Sony has revealed that it plans to increase the price of a PlayStation Plus subscription across Europe and the U.K. from August 31st, 2017.
From 00:01 a.m. BST on August 31st, the price of an annual PlayStation Plus subscription will increase from £39.99 to £49.99, a three-month subscription will increase from £14.99 to £19.99, and a monthly subscription will be increased from £5.99 to £6.99.
All PS4 owners who have their subscription set to automatically renew will be charged the new price on renewals on or after August 31st. However, users still have the option to purchase a subscription at the lower price until August 31st to stack on top of their current subscription.
A Sony representative informed Eurogamer that the price is being increased “to reflect various market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members.”
The price of a PlayStation Plus subscription in North America was increased last year to $59.99 for a year, $24.99 for three months, and $9.99 for a month.
A PlayStation Plus subscription will continue to offer access to online multiplayer, free games each month, exclusive discounts, and access to 10GB of online storage for saves.
