THE BUZZ: Sony has released a new trailer for the PlayStation Vita which takes a closer look at the handheld’s social features.

EGM’s TAKE: The most interesting feature discussed in the video is the “Live Area,” each game has one and it is touted as the number one place to go for information about a game that you love. The Live Area allows developers to keep players up to speed about their games; you can check downloadable content, post on the game’s forums and watch new trailers from the portal. Then there’s the “near” feature, which will pick up Vitas that are in your area and give you a run down of their activity, introducing you to new games and even offering challenges. The PlayStation Vita seems to be the most socially connected handheld to ever release and with a strong launch line-up this could be the one that Sony actually gets right.
