The PlayStation Vita version of Borderlands 2 is capped at two-player co-op, hands-on impressions from SCEA social media specialist Justin Massongill posted to the PlayStation Blog reveal.
According to Massongill, while the SCEA Third Party Production team tried to incorporate four-player co-op, eventually they decided late into the development cycle to focus on “providing the best two-player-only co-op experience possible.”
Masongill’s hands-on impressions also revealed that Borderlands 2’s control scheme on Vita can be completely remapped to suit various player preferences, though by default sprint and melee attacks are allocated to the back touchpad while tapping the front screen either throws a grenade or activates character powers, depending on the area tapped.
Borderlands 2 on Vita will feature all six vault hunters—the original four plus Gaige the Mechromancer and Krieg the Psycho—as well as the Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, the Vault Hunter Upgrade, and the Collector’s Edition Pack DLC add-ons.
Borderlands 2 launches on PlayStation Vita May 13 according to various retailers, but Masongill mentions May 6 as a date on his PlayStation Blog. We’ve reached out to Sony for clarification.
