Sony’s PlayStation 4 platform has been setting all kinds of records lately, which includes its DualShock 4 gamepad beating out all others.
Sony’s recent April NPD report revealed that the standard color DualShock 4 is the all-time highest grossing gamepad. “The PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 Wireless Controller Black is now the all-time best-selling Gamepad in dollar sales,” the report reads. It should be noted that the “dollar sales” specification implies that the DualShock 4 has made the most money compared to similar hardware, but not necessarily moved the most units.
The same sales report had good news for PlayStation all around. The report designates last month’s God of War as the best selling PlayStation-exclusive game ever, which helped make Sony the top-selling publisher in April, and also helped the PS4 see the highest one-month software sales for a single platform in history.
There is a good chance the PS4 may finish off this console life-cycle at the top of the heap, as the cycle’s end seems to be nearing. Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO John Kodera recently confirmed that the next step in the PlayStation family of platforms is on the horizon, although it is still more than in three years away.
