Dengeki Magazine is revealing a lot of information about Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2, detailing a number of gameplay changes, gym alterations, and most importantly, a small-but-significant Pokédex adjustment.
In previous Pokémon titles, you could only look up one Pokémon at a time to see which routes they could be encountered on. With the improved version, you can now look at the route itself, and see all the available types of Pokémon that can be caught at once in a single screen.
Like most updates in Pokémon sequels, it’s a small adjustment that should’ve happened waaaaay sooner, but it’s still an important one that saves lots of menu browsing. Moreover, it’ll be extremely useful if that feature can be used to detect rare and “shiny” Pokémon.
Additionally, more plot points in the story are translated via fansite Pokébeach:
- Players will get early access to the previous games’ “Black City” and “White Forest”
- Like Pokémon Black and Pokémon White, you’ll have to beat the game once before transferring over your team from the fourth generation games (but they can’t go back).
- Team Plasma is divided into two factions, one siding with character “N” and the other wanting to (traditionally) take over the world.
We’re still waiting for a North American release date, though, so nothing new on that front. It’s so hard being patient.
