Nintendo’s latest entry to the Pokemon series has become an instant success in Japan, selling around 1.6 million copies in its first two days.

Black and White 2‘s success makes it the third fastest selling DS game in history, as well as the only game to surpass a million sales on any system in Japan this year, according to chart group Enterbrain.

However, the game was unable to beat its predecessor. The original Pokemon Black and White is still the fastest selling DS game in Japan with 2.6 million units sold in its first two days of release back in 2010.
