It seems like something they would’ve done ages ago, but franchise group “The Pokémon Company Incorporated” never had an official Twitter or Facebook page just for Pokémon. That’s changing now.

Specifically targeted at North American fans, the official Pokémon Facebook page and Twitter account just went live yesterday with the following messages:

“Welcome to the official Pokémon Twitter feed! Follow and retweet all the latest Pokémon news and fun!”

“The all-new Facebook page starts today! We’re excited to spend time and share Pokémon love with all our fans! Be sure to like this page and share it with your friends!”

Traditionally, most social media efforts for the Pokémon games have been handled by Nintendo, which can occasionally delve into promotions for the anime, movies, and trading card games.

However, The Pokémon Company Incorporated (or TPCI) is one main group that’s responsible for Pokémon-related events and media relations, including tasks like promoting the annual, international Pokémon Video Game Championships and Pokémon Trading Card Game Championships.
