Niantic made Pokémon Go‘s final Community Day for 2018 a huge event, offering every former Community Day star in one weekend. However, it seems the developer will be going back to the event’s typical format to kick off 2019.
According to Niantic’s latest blog post, the January Community Day will feature Generation II’s Totodile. As seen in the image below, trainers will see increased spawns of the Water-type starter on January 12th, 2019 from 11 a.m. PT to 2 p.m. PT.
As with all Community Days, a bonus will be in effect. This time, players will be able to enjoy eggs that hatch four times faster than normal. Plus, the shiny version of Totodile will be available to find in the wild. Trainers that evolve to get a Feraligatr, Totodile’s final form, during the event will get an exclusive move.
Totodile will mark the final Johto starter to star in a Community Day, as Chikorita and Cyndaquil were featured in 2018. If next year’s events follow the same format as this year’s, then players should see a Generation III ‘mon lead March’s Community Day.
Outside of the monthly event news, Niantic recently introduced a new Legendary boss to raids. Trainers can now encounter Generation IV’s Heatran in Gyms until January 15th. Also, all EX raid battles will feature a new form of Deoxys—Attack Forme.
