It’s that chilling time of year again, which means Pokémon Go‘s Halloween event has returned. This year, the treats include new Ghost- and Dark-type Pokémon from Generation IV, a non-Mythical Special Research, another shiny, and much more.
According to Niantic’s latest blog post, from October 23rd at 1 p.m. PT until November 1st at 1 p.m. PT, trainers will see an influx of Ghost- and Dark-type spawns, including new ‘mons Drifloon and Stunky. More importantly, Drifloon’s shiny variant will be available. Research quests themed after those types will also be added to PokéStops, with double candy rewards for every catch.
Two significant ongoing events will be available for the Halloween season, too. First up, Professor Willow will be adding a new batch of Special Research for Spiritomb, which will be the first non-Mythical Pokémon to receive its own quest line.
Second, the first Legendary to enter the game from Sinnoh, Giratina, will be making its way into raids. Until November 20th at 1 p.m. PT, trainers will be able to join up with friends to take on the powerful Ghost/Dragon-type in battle.
Niantic will also be offering a way to dress up in-game. New avatar items themed after Drifloon, Gengar, and more will be available in the Style Shop.
Pokémon Go is available for iOS and Android.
