Since Niantic revealed yesterday, January 23rd, that a new wave of Pokémon from Generation III was now available in Pokémon Go, players have been scrambling to discover what new additions were added. Only a handful of the 23 new creatures were revealed to trainers, but data mining players have already discovered the new roster available.
Part of Niantic’s surprise announcement of the new Pokémon was a promotional image that allowed fans to identify 15 of the Pokédex entries, leaving the final eight as a mystery. However, it didn’t take long for data mining group LeekDuck to uncover the full list. The remaining eight Pokémon in the new wave are Nosepass, Torkoal, Baltoy, Claydol, Lileep, Cradily, Anorith, and Armaldo. The site even created a handy image of all 23 new Pokémon for players to reference, seen below.
While many of the Hoenn creatures in the “Desert Wave” can be added to a trainer’s Pokédex through the evolution of the easier to find stage one Pokémon, like Whismur, Niantic also added a surefire way of finding the tremendous third stage evolution Aggron. Joining the current raid bosses, which are powerful Pokémon trainers can battle and attempt to capture at Gyms, will be the Steel/Rock-type. Boasting a combat power of 33,458, which dictates its in-battle attack power, trainers will only find success in defeating the boss by using Fighting-types and with a large number of players.
If that wasn’t enough of a reason to get out and explore, the development team also has a unique limited-time gift for egg hatchers. The Pokémon Go Twitter revealed from now until January 30th, all eggs hatched will house a Hoenn Pokémon, seen below.

As only three waves of Generation III are currently available to find in the game, knowing a Hoenn Pokémon is guaranteed will significantly increase players’ chances of hatching the rarer creatures, like Ralts from 10km eggs or Shroomish from 5km eggs. Trainers looking to be speedy about the process can also purchase the Super Incubator item in the in-game shop, cutting each hatch’s distance required in half.
Pokémon Go is available for iOS and Android.
