Pokémon Rumble U, an upcoming downloadable Pokémon game for Wii U that looks like a collection of variety/mini-games, is confirmed to feature plastic figurine integration much like Skylanders/Disney Infinity.

In the official trailer (seen below), there’s a shot about 15 seconds in that shows a plastic Pokémon figure being scanned using the GamePad’s NFC technology (which, as it turns out, is that little white rectangle outline just below the de-pad).

There will be 7 Pokémon figures available when the game launches in Japan April 26, one of which will be Pikachu. Not much else about the game is known right now. Release outside of Japan has yet to be confirmed, but is expected.
