During today’s Pokemon-focused Nintendo Direct, Nintendo officially announced Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield for Nintendo Switch.
The upcoming games will take place in Galar, an expansive region filled with “idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains.”
“The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here,” Nintendo adds. “You’ll visit the various Gyms in the Galar region, aiming for the enviable and admirable title of Champion!”
We also got a look at the three starter Pokémon for generation eight: the grass-type mischievous chimp Pokémon Grookey, the fire-type rabbit Pokémon Scorbunny, and the water-type water lizard Pokémon Sobble.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch in late 2019.
