With Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon both set to release on November 17th, fans are scrambling to know what unknown content is awaiting them in the return to Alola. For those who can’t wait to discover the mew material, the Reddit community has unveiled a heaping helping of new Pokémon, Z-Moves, and a possible cameo from a famous character.
Warning: While the news is exciting, it does come with huge spoilers, so please proceed at your own risk.
The Pokémon Company teased players previously that new Ultra Beasts, mysterious creatures first seen in Pokémon Sun and Moon, would be joining the story in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Unlike the original Ultra Beasts, these new additions were given strange names, like UB Adhesive, UB Burst, and UB Assembly. Thanks to the recent data mining work on Reddit, the new creatures have official names. Seen below, in order from left to right, Adhesive’s name is Poipole and will evolve into Naganadel, Burst will be known as Blacephalon, and Assembly is called Stakataka.
Outside of new names, two unrevealed Pokémon will be joining the game, including the mythical Electric-type Zeraora and a “Light” form for the games’ antagonist, Necrozma. Zeraora will specialize in speed and physical attack, while Necrozma’s new form will reportedly be stronger than the mega form of the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza.
As for returning Pokémon, several are receiving exclusive Z-crystals, which unlock special moves that the Pokémon can use when holding the item. Fan favorite Mimikyu will get the Mimikium Z item to perform the attack “Snuggle Forever,” Dragon/Fighting-type Kommo-o can get Kommonium Z, and three-tiered evolution Pokémon Lycanroc can hold Lycanium Z. It seems the Legendary creatures on Alola will also receive Z-crystals, which includes Lunala, Solgalio, and Necrozma.
In a surprising twist, text files referencing the character Ash from the series’ anime were also found in the data mining work. While text findings could point to a simple reference in the game and not an actual inclusion of the character, a former Pokémon seen in Sun and Moon could make the theory of Ash being in the game true. As part of Sun and Moon‘s pre-release demo, players were given Ash-Greninja, which is a soul-connected Pokémon from the TV series. While Ash never appeared in the games, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will play with alternate dimensions, meaning the real Ash could appear in the new story to add validity to Ash-Greninja’s existence.
The data miners found, even more, spoiler content, including sound files and new music tracks. For a full look and listen to everything the Reddit community obtained, check out the subreddit for Ultra Sun.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will launch for the Nintendo 3DS on November 17th.
