THE BUZZ: The Kickstarter project for Police Warfare has been cancelled without explanation.
Developer Elastic Games posted this short note after raising just $25,000 of its $325,000 target: “Thank you so much for the incredible response to the game. We’re shutting down the kickstarter account but this is by no means the end of Police Warfare. News will be coming.”
Details, screenshots and footage of the project can be found here.
EGM’s TAKE: It seems odd that the developer would seek the help of the community only to pull the Kickstarter just a week after it began. There could be a couple of reasons for this to occur. It could be that a publisher has offered to pay entirely for the game, therefore rendering the need for fan funding mute. The other option is that somebody is challenging the game for copyright reasons. They wouldn’t have much The most likely answer is that a publisher has taken the game on after seeing how much people wanted it.
