Prey 2 Teaser Site Updated, But Not By Bethesda

A while back a mysterious “Alien Noire” teaser site appeared for Prey 2 which was supposedly counting down to a reveal of some kind. Well this site has now received an update, but not by Bethesda–how strange.

The site’s source code originally contained a message which read, “Tommy needs your help,” it has now been updated to, “Tommy needs your help with a stranded human who wants to go home.” The message is referring to Tommy, the protagonist from the original Prey, who also features in the sequel.

Now considering the site features logos for both Bethesda and Human Head Studios–the game’s publisher and developer, respectively–you would think that it was an official teaser site for the game, but apparently it isn’t. A Bethesda spokesperson told Joystiq, “I don’t know what that is or who is doing it. It’s not something we’re doing.” So why has Bethesda not attempted to shut this site down?
