The Legend of Zelda

The latest batch of screenshots posted to the official Smash Bros. website confirms that Princess Zelda will be among Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for 3DS’ roster.

Hyrule’s benevolent ruler first appeared in 2001’s Super Smash Bros. Melee for the GameCube. She’s since appeared in every subsequent Smash Bros. release (read: Brawl for Wii and now this one). Based on the screenshots posted to the Smash Bros. website, her appearance is modeled after the Twilight Princess version of Zelda. It also appears that one of her attacks involves the Phantoms that appeared in Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks for DS.

Princess Zelda joins Smash Bros. newcomer Rosalina & Luma, Marth, Sonic the Hedgehog, Toon Link, Peach, Luigi, Pikmin & Olimar, Animal Crossing’s Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, and Pit among Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for 3DS’ confirmed combatants.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for 3DS are set to launch sometime 2014.
