Project Spark game-making software now in open beta on Xbox One

Posted on March 18, 2014 AT 02:30pm

Project Spark, developer Team Dakota’s videogame making software for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC, is now in open beta on Xbox One, Microsoft announced today.

Anyone interested in taking a shot at designing their own game can find the Project Spark beta by searching the Xbox Games Store and installing the software.

First announced during Microsoft’s E3 2013 press conference, Project Spark offers players the ability to build a variety of different game belonging to a variety of different genres, choosing between a blank canvas or a pre-designed level. Customization, while extensive and full of options, does not, however, require professional level game design knowledge.

A full, formal release of Project Spark has yet to be dated. Examples of works made using Project Spark can be seen in the montage video embedded above.
