Heathcliff Hatcher, Razer’s director of global product marketing, said that the laptops are not fully functional and the theft should not impact the products launch. The main reason that the company revealed the thefts is to try and recover data from a weekend long thermal test on one of the laptops. Razer added on its Facebook page: “As you can imagine, the return of these prototype units is very important to the company. We have already reported this to the authorities who are working closely with us on this matter.”
EGM’s TAKE: Basically what has been stolen isn’t of much use as a product due to them not being fully functional, so unless the thieves plan on selling secrets it was a waste of time.
