PS Vita developer talks about the portable’s RAM, battery life

Posted on July 28, 2011 AT 03:14pm

Dani Snchez-Crespo – the CEO of Invizimals-creator Novarama – had a few things to say about Sony’s next handheld game machine, the PS Vita.

First is the question of system memory, and how much RAM the PS Vita will ship with. Rumors have been going around the internet that the initial intention was have 512MB of internal RAM, but that that amount was cut in half to 256MB.

Speaking to Develop, when asked about those rumors, Snchez-Crespo stated, “No that wont affect us. Its actually good for developers to work under constraint. Generally for Vita, we still have a whole lot of headroom in terms of GPU power, CPU power and indeed RAM.”

He then went on to say that the PSP had 32MB of RAM, and that the Vita will have “about ten times that” – both statements which seem to agree to the talk about the Vita’s RAM being around 256MB.

As far as battery life, Snchez-Crespo had this to say:

“And the systems battery life, by the way, is really good. Youd think with all the processing power that it would drain fast, but its fantastic.”
