Speaking to develop-online.net, SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said that Sony has worked hard to make the PS Vita one of the best possible platforms for developers to make games on.
The reason for this was that they wanted to get away from the issues some of their previous hardware had when it came to game development. Yoshida said the PS3, for example, “had very, very high potential and peak performance, but programming for the PlayStation platforms was a huge challenge for game developers.
With the PS Vita, the main focus is now not just on providing hardware that is insanely powerful, but hardware which makes the development process smoother for game creators, and which will help developers bring more games to it.
In terms of performance, and the graphics power and programmable shaders and so on, what you can get out of it is far closer to PS3,” said Michael Denny, senior vice president of SCE Worldwide Studios. “Its a great contrast of ease of development to the output you get from the system.
