PlayStation 4

PlayStation is partnering with the eSports League to bring PS4 gamers their own series of gaming tournaments, Sony has announced on the official PlayStation Blog.

PlayStation Tournaments, as they’re imaginatively called, will be held over the PlayStation Network and can be managed from the system’s Events tab. Those signed up for a tournament will receive a notification on their system when it is time to participate. Starting out, the tournaments feature only supports 1-on-1 matches, but PlayStation will “continue to enhance the feature in the future” to presumably accommodate team-based games.

The first PlayStation Tournament is kicking off with NBA 2K17 and will run from October 27th to November 26th, with Major Cup rounds every Saturday. Sign-ups are now open and participants will need a PlayStation Plus subscription, an ESL account, and a copy of NBA 2K17 to join in the fun. Winners will receive sweet rewards like DualShock 4 controllers and other PlayStation gear.

Nick didn’t start gaming until mid-2006. Once his parents finally allowed a console into the house, it was all uphill from there. Starting out with a PS2, he grew an affinity for Sony consoles and moved on to the PS3, and now the PS4. He keeps his gaming palette wide, but, gun to his head, he’d have to say shooters are his genre of choice. Find him on Twitter @idole808
