Following issues concerning inappropriate behavior and non-gaming content being streamed from the PS4’s Playroom via Twitch, the company has temporarily removed channels streaming from the service.
“We removed Playroom content from the directory because a majority of it was non-gaming related,” Twitch said in a statement. “We will look into adding it back as PS4 owners become more familiar with the games-only focus of Twitch content. In the meantime, you can view all of the amazing gameplay from PS4 broadcasters in this director page on Twitch.”
Earlier this week, Twitch began aggressively moderating content coming out of Playroom after a series of livestreams that did not adhere to the company’s Terms of Service gained notoriety, including a husband and wife consuming alcohol in access and performing lewd actions over livestream.
As someone on Reddit pointed out earlier this week, part of the problem stems from the absence of any notification when first signing on to Playroom about the content that is and isn’t acceptable, particularly the need for content to be videogame-related. Of course, one could argue that—in the extreme cases of, say, sexual acts being performed live through Playroom—common sense could (and should) be applied.
