PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

Popular battle royale shooter PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds managed to break 3 million concurrent players over the Christmas period, dwarfing the maximum numbers set by other games on Steam.

Currently, the game is sitting on a peak player count of 2.95 million, but it did go as high as 3.1 million. They are pretty impressive numbers considering that the second most played game is Dota 2 with just shy of 700,000 players.

As well as breaking a new current player milestone, it was also revealed by the game’s anti-cheat service BattlEye that more than 1.5 million players have been banned from the game since it launched. Cheating has been a big issue for Battlegrounds since it launched, but it appears that the developer is slowly getting on top of it.

Earlier today, a new update was released for the game to address an issue that caused some long range shots not to detect a hit.
