PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds recently left Xbox One’s Game Preview program, meaning that console players can now earn achievements. Unfortunately, some users are reporting issues with unlocking said achievements.
Game Rant reported that, while certain achievements work as expected, others simply won’t unlock, even after fulfilling their requirements multiple times. Easy achievements like picking up a downed teammate and swapping your clothes for those of a dead player just aren’t working, as evidenced by the low completion percentage.
Looking further, posts on PUBG‘s official forums and on the PUBG Xbox One subreddit show that these aren’t isolated incidents. One player reported that an achievement that’s unlocked by making it to the top 10 in solo without killing anyone didn’t work, and they even provided photographic evidence. Commenters on one thread have stated that the game isn’t even tracking progress towards some achievements.
Thankfully, developer PUBG Corp. is aware of these issues, according to a recent Reddit post, and is actively soliciting feedback from the community as to what achievements are unlocking.
This isn’t the first time that a major release’s achievements haven’t worked as expected. Another game with close ties to Microsoft Studios, Sea of Thieves, experienced a ton of issues with, among other things, achievements not unlocking at launch. In that case, it only took a couple of weeks to fix the issues, and achievements that players earned while the service was down retroactively activated following an update. With any luck, the eventual fix for PUBG‘s achievements will function similarly, though given the game’s history, we’re not counting on anything.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available on Xbox One and PC.
