During E3, PC Gamer got the chance to sit down with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds creator Brendan Greene to discuss the game’s upcoming fourth map.
The map was officially unveiled during Microsoft’s press conference via a very brief teaser trailer that revealed a winter theme.
According to Greene, this new map will sit somewhere in between the size of Erangel, Miramar, and Sanhok due to the amount of time it takes to create the larger maps.
“No, we’re looking at somewhere in between,” he said when asked about the size. “We found 8-by-8, it’s great, but it takes an inordinate amount of time to get maps of that scale done. So, we’re looking from a gameplay point of view, we might shrink it down a little bit. We don’t have exact sizing yet, but it’ll be somewhere in between I think.”
Greene also mentioned that the team is hoping to let players track each other via footprints left in the snow, but added that he couldn’t promise anything at the moment.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds‘ third map, Sanhok, is scheduled to arrive on PC on June 22nd and on Xbox One later this summer.
