PUBG Corp. has unveiled plans for an underground cave system that will be introduced to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ third map, Codename: Savage, in the future.
Recently, the development team took a trip to South East Asia where they found inspiration for a new area of the map in the form of a giant hole in the ground.
“How’d you like to drop from the plane and try to hit a hole like this? That’d be badass right? That’s exactly what we were thinking, which is why we’re working on an underground cave system with plenty methods of escape,” the developer wrote. “We were inspired by a cave system the team found outside of Bangkok.”
As you can see in the concept art below, this new underground cave area will feature a giant entrance that can be parachuted into, a pool in the center, and multiple ways to escape.
“So how does this inspiration and planning end up looking like on the map? It’s looking pretty amazing,” PUBG Corp. added. “We still have some work to do before we show it off, but we’re excited about rolling it out in the next couple of testing phases.”
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on Xbox One and PC.
