A now pulled Uplay page revealed a few details about Far Cry 4, specifically regarding the main character and the primary antagonist.

“Hidden in the majestic Himalayas lies Kyrat, a country steeped in tradition and violence,” read the now removed text. “You are Ajay Ghale. Traveling to Kyrat to fulfill your mother’s dying wish, you find yourself caught up in a civil war to overthrow the oppressive regime of dictator Pagan Min.”

Current speculation on the GAFs and the reddits is that Pagan Min is the very dictatorial, if not dapper, looking gentleman featured on the game’s box art. Ghale, on the other hand, may be a character named after and inspired by Gaje Ghale, a Nepalese soldier awarded the then British Commonwealth’s Victoria Cross, highest military award given for valor, after rallying troops while wounded and successfully capturing a strong Japanese position in what is now Myanmar during the Japanese occupation of Burma in World War II.

Ubisoft only just announced Far Cry 4 last week. The first-person shooter is scheduled to launch across Windows PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 November 18 in North America and November 20 in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Alex Hutchinson, who served as creative director on Assassin’s Creed III, is handling that same responsibility on Far Cry 4.
