Sony’s upcoming bunraku-inspired side-scrolling platformer Puppeteer has itself a release date and shiny new trailer.

In Puppeteer, players take control of Kutaro, who has been turned into a puppet and rocks a giant pair of magical scissors. In order to reclaim his stolen puppet head, Kutaro must pursue the Moon Bear King.

If nothing else, Puppeteer earns points for (a) being an unabashed platformer and (b) having a unique art style that’s a welcome departure from the the usual attempts at photorealism.

Puppeteer is set to release on PS3 September 10 for $40.
