THE BUZZ: Billing itself as “the ultimate video game festival and party,” QuakeCon is once again set to invade Dallas—and today it got its official date.
EGM’s TAKE: Though I myself have never been to QuakeCon, the announcement for the date promises “nonstop fun and entertainment” not only for those who bring their own rigs to hook up to the countless multiplayer gaming opportunities that will be going on, but also for anybody not cool enough to partake in such computer-bringing.
I did go to an anime convention one year, where I had an intense session of Pictochat with other DS owners. That was kind of exciting. Maybe not the same level of excitement you’ll get at QuakeCon, though.
So when can you participate in this epic event? August 2nd through the 5th at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas. The event will be free for all attendees thanks to the support of id Software, Bethesda Softworks, the 2012 QuakeCon event sponsors and exhibitors, and this year’s volunteer staff.
If you want to make plans to head down for QuakeCon, I’m guessing it’s one of those “the sooner the better” situations. The Hilton Anatole Hotel will be running specials for QuakeCon attendees, but no word on how many rooms will be available or how quickly they’ll be snatched up.
