Race Radio-Controlled Cars in Exotic Places in MotorStorm RC

Posted on November 23, 2011 AT 03:10pm

THE BUZZ: Evolution Studios has announced MotorStorm RC, a new chapter of the MotorStorm series that brings all of the action and excitement of previous games to a much smaller scale.

Announced by the game’s director Paul Rustchynsky on the official PlayStation blog, MotorStorm RC will feature 16 new tracks set across four classic MotorStorm locations. As well, eight vehicle classes from the series will be present—just much, much smaller in their new radio-controlled renditions.

“Everyone who has played MotorStorm RC so far says it really gets you hooked, with an addictive, hypnotic core experience – just like the best arcade games,” says Rustchynsky. “Also like the best arcade games, stages take just moments to load, giving it that ‘just one more go’ quality, especially when you can play at home on PS3 and then continue your progress on the go with Vita.”

MotorStorm RC will be released next Spring both as a downloadable title for both the PS3 and PS Vita. In a great move, if you buy one copy of the game, you get a copy of the game for the other platform for free—and if you have both platforms, you can stop or start your progress on either version at any time.

EGM’s TAKE: I don’t know why, but there’s just something about racing games based around RC cars that I’ve always enjoyed. Even though I’ve never been huge into the MotorStorm series, I’m now really curious to try this one out.

There’s also another thing I like hearing about MotorStorm RC—the option for four-player splitscreen local multiplayer. Sure, that may seem like a small thing, but more and more games these days are eschewing local multiplayer for only providing online options. So, it’s nice to see some games still paying attention to that idea.
