GameStop has removed Rainbow Six: Patriots from its database and it is no longer available to pre-order sparking rumors of the title being cancelled.
A source with intimate knowledge of the retailer told IGN that GameStop ”actively flipped a switch” to remove Rainbow Six: Patriots from its system. “GameStop tends not to remove big-name games from major publishers without an official confirmation that a title is dead,” the source said
Other retailers such as Amazon and GAME are still carrying pre-order listings for the game casting a cancellation into doubt. It could just be that the game has suffered a significant delay due to a overhaul, or it could mean nothing at all. If I had to have a guess, I’d go with a next generation overhaul of the game which will be announced at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference.
Rainbow Six: Patriots was announced back in 2011, but very little has been heard about the game since. When asked about the listing removal Ubisoft told IGN, ”We have nothing further to share about Rainbow 6: Patriots at this time.”
