Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six

The two new operators coming in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege‘s Operation Grim Sky expansion will change the game for both Attackers and Defenders.

The characters were previously teased in separate teaser trailers, but the recent Six Major tournament in Paris brought with it a full trailer breakdown of the characters. The Attacker Maverick is the first operator highlighted in the trailer, followed by the Defender Clash.

Maverick’s unique tool is his Suri blowtorch, which allows him to melt holes in normal and reinforced walls alike. Other characters that can breach metal barricades blast away huge sections of them at a time, but Marverick can control the size of the hole he makes with his blowtorch. Creating a hole that an operator can fit through takes nearly all of his torch’s fuel, so while it is an option, it is more advantageous to use the tool to quietly make small sightlines in the reinforced walls. Maverick is a one armor/three speed Attacker, bringing in the AR-15 and M4 assault rifles as his primary weapon options.

Next up is Clash, who, as we learned from her teaser trailer, is the first Defender in the game to wield a shield. The character cannot carry a primary weapon, nor can she use her side-arm while her shield is in hand, but she makes up for this with the dual tasers on the front of her CCE extendable shield. The tasers will damage and slow their targets, making her a formidable foe to any that face off with her. She cannot melee with the shield, and meleeing her will cause her to drop it slightly, but the range and recharge rate of the tasers makes approaching this three armor/one speed operator an unwise decision.

The two new operators will be accompanied in the Operation Grim Sky expansion by a rework of the Hereford Base map. A recent fly-through trailer of the map gave us an idea of what to expect, but the expansion’s latest gameplay trailer offers an even better look at the redesigned arena.

Operation Grim Sky does not yet have a release date, but it is expected to hit Siege soon.

Nowhere is safe from Maverick's torch in the next Rainbow Six Siege expansion, except maybe behind Clash's shield.
