Rambo Returns To Video Games, Set To Draw Fifth Blood
Posted on August 3, 2012 AT 03:48pm

In what is easily the winner of “Surprise Announcement of the Day”, Reef Entertainment and developer Teyon have announced Rambo: The Video Game.
Yes, really! In 2012!
It seems Reef Entertainment acquired the Rambo license in August of last year, and set forth to create a new Rambo video game for both consoles and PC. The game will be a “fixed-perspective, first-person shooter & action game”, and will incorporate elements from First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, and Rambo III.
“Rambo: The Video Game leverages contemporary gameplay elements such as destructible terrain, cover-based shooting and rag-doll physics to deliver the high-quality RAMBO action fans around the world expect,” the description for the cinematic teaser trailer (embedded below) states.
To explain the “fifth blood” part of this story’s title, this is—so far as I’m aware—the fifth game based on Rambo to be developed. Some of them weren’t so hot—I’m looking at you, Rambo on the NES—but man, Rambo III on the Genesis was pretty great back in the day. If this new project can be as good as that way, I’ll happily give it a go.
From the game’s announcement, it sounds like we’ll hear more about Rambo: The Video Game at the upcoming Gamescom.
