Rare is holding yet another scale test for Sea of Thieves, and no, that’s not to be confused with the previous scale test or multiple beta tests the game has held recently.

This test in particular will run from Friday, March 2nd, at 2 a.m. PT until Sunday, March 4th, at 2 a.m. PT. In order to participate, you’ll need to either be a part of the Sea of Thieves Insider Program or have pre-ordered a copy of the game.

These scale tests are meant to put the game through its paces before launch, seeing how the game holds up with a large number of players. If you decide to jump in, don’t expect a perfectly smooth performance. If it’s anything like the last scale test of the game, Rare may even intentionally throttle performance at times, just so the company can test how the game might perform under real server outages.

“Due to the amount of people who turned up to play [during the last scale test], we learned so much about our services and capabilities,” Rare wrote in a post. “Some of these we could address on the fly, some of them we could attribute to plans we already had to do before launch, and some identified completely new areas to work on, so these have been added to our list to address for launch.”

Issues that players should expect to see include sessions being interrupted, “an inability to join the game at certain times,” and issues with the in-game shops.

Sea of Thieves launches for the Xbox One and PC on March 20th.
