Looks like recent predictions of a remastered Duke Nukem 3D in the works were accurate, based on a number of newly leaked images.
A teaser website was recently set up honoring the 20th anniversary of Duke Nukem 3D. The website featured a countdown clock ending on Friday, September 2nd which lead to speculation that a remastered edition of the game may be announced in honor of its birthday. This seems to be the case, as several leaked screenshots reveal the half remaster/half remix Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour.
The game was first leaked and detailed on Reddit by user Tezla55, who claims to have connections with someone who is in on the project. The game will reportedly be developed by Nerve Software, which seems to be going for the truly authentic Duke Nukem feel with both new and original content included.
The game could have cooperative and competitive multiplayer, although the Reddit poster’s inconsistent phrasing makes the matter a little unclear. “They also said that there will be both co-op as well as deathmatch online although they are not 100% sure on it.”
The game is expected to be officially announced at the Inside Gearbox Software panel during next week’s PAX West.
