Recently Departed Total War: Rome 2 Fan Lives On through In-Game Likeness

Developer The Creative Assembly has immortalized a fan of theirs in Total War: Rome 2

James, a 24-year-old fan of the series, was recreated in the game when he visited to The Creative Assembly’s HQ in Horsham, U.K. last July through wish-fulfillment charity Willow Foundation. He was also given the opportunity to test the game, making him the first non-industry individual to play Rome 2. Unfortunately, James passed away after losing his battle with liver cancer shortly after his visit to the studio.

“Although he won’t get the chance to see Rome 2 released, he will live on in some small way in our game—and every time I see him I’ll be reminded of what a great guy he was,” said Total War community manager Craig Laycock. “In many ways, James represented what’s best about working in videogames: crafting games that people enjoy and that stay with them. It’s why we all do what we do, and why we’re so passionate about it. He really brought that home to us.”

Total War: Rome 2 is expected to launch on PC later this year.
