Take-Two Interactive’s CEO has some lofty expectations for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2, and we’re inclined to believe him.
In a recent earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the impact he believes Red Dead Redemption 2 will have on the games industry this year and beyond. According to Zelnick, RDR2 won’t just be a commercial success, it will “redefine our industry.”
“We fully expect that the October 26 launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 will mark yet another creative milestone in Rockstar Games’ renowned history, and will further illustrate their ability to deliver entertainment experiences that redefine our industry and captivate audiences throughout the world,” Zelnick stated.
Industry analysts are still debating how Red Dead Redemption 2 will stack up this year. Many expect the open-world western game to clean house, but despite competing publishers giving RDR2‘s release date a wide berth, at least one analyst firm claims that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and even Battlefield V, will outsell RDR2 in the months following their launches.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is slated to launch October 26th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, at which point we’ll finally know who reigns supreme. In other RDR2 news, a new crossover mission is live in Grand Theft Auto Online, with potential to unlock bonuses in both games.
