In a conversation with Kotaku, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime says the two biggest issues that face the 3DS will soon be in the past. What were those issues, and would you agree?
Fils-Aime told Kotaku that in talking to consumers, there were two main things keeping people from purchasing a 3DS: the lack of a “big Nintendo franchise”, and the fact that the online portions of the 3DS weren’t there yet.
The first, he says, has been partially solved by the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and will be further solved by the upcoming release of titles such as Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart 3DS, Super Mario Bros. 3D, and Luigi’s Mansion 2. (At least one of which – Luigi’s Mansion 2 – won’t hit until 2012.)
The online connectivity issue is also being taken care of, Fils-Aime said, now that the eShop is up and running, and with the 3D movie service and Netflix coming later this summer.
