Tor Books have announced that Halo: Silentium, the third novel in Greg Bear’s Halo Forerunner Saga, will be released on March 19.
The book will be released in hardcover, as an ebook, and as an audio book.
In the announcement, the novel is described thusly: “In Halo: Cryptum, Greg Bear began a three-book arc set in the era of the Forerunners, the ancient and enigmatic creators and builders of the Halos, which continued in Halo: Primordium. Now, in the last years of the Forerunner empire, chaos rules. The Flood — a horrifying shape-changing parasite — has arrived in force, aided by unexpected allies. Internal strife within the ecumene has desperately weakened Forerunner defenses. Only the Didact and the Librarian —husband and wife pushed into desperate conflict — hold the keys to a solution. Facing the consequences of a mythic tragedy, one of them must now commit the greatest atrocity of all time — to prevent an unmatched evil from dominating the entire universe.
The announcement comes on the heels of Tor releasing Halo: The Thursday War, which is the second novel in the Kilo-Five trilogy being written by Karen Traviss.
The hardcover edition will retail for $25.99, and the audio book will be $26.99, but neither Amazon nor Barnes & Noble.com had a listing for the ebook yet.
