Replay Games has announced that Josh Mandel is the developer’s new Chief Creative Officer, and also announced a brand new adventure game titled Fester Mudd: The Curse of the Gold.
Mandel is the former Director of the Sierra-Online Product Design Department and the former Director of Game Design at Sega of America. He has written and/or produced more than 40 games for the likes of Broderbund, Microsoft, Legend, Sierra, Vicarious Visions, Sega, Midway, and Hasbro.
Mandel has already got straight to work on Replay’s Leisure Suit Larry franchise adding a “special brand of creativity on the story and dialogue,” according to the developer. “This is a priceless opportunity for me both personally and professionally. On a personal level, it allows me to be creative with people I’ve come to know and love over the course of the past 25 years,” claimed Mandel. “On a professional level, it puts me in a place where I can create the kinds of humorous, literate games that engendered the original market for computer games, and bring them to a whole new generation of gamers.”
Replay Games also announced a brand new original IP adventure game titled Fester Mudd: The Curse of the Gold which is due to release January 2012 for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android. “Fester Mudd is a throwback to the old school adventure games that dominated gaming in the 80’s and 90’s,” the developer explains. “With a western theme and strong comedic elements, Fester Mudd will be Replay’s first original intellectual property adventure title.”
“I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more. Actually, that crying part is a lie. Fester is a good ol’ timey adventure game in the true spirit of Sierra’s best games!” claimed Al Lowe, creator of the Leisure Suit Larry series.
Fester Mudd: The Curse of the Gold has been placed onto Steam’s new Greenlight process, which allows players to vote for games they would like to see added to the platform in the future. Submissions with the most votes are then added to the Steam Store. You can vote for Fester Mudd: The Curse of the Gold here.
