Take this with a whole bowl of salt for now, but a 4chan user, who reportedly has connections with Bethesda Game Studios, claims that Bethesda will announce a new open-world role-playing game called Starfield at E3.
According to the user, the game has been in very early production since Fallout 3 was released and went into full pre-production following the release of Fallout 4‘s final DLC.
Starfield is going to be an open-world role-playing game with a sci-fi setting that features between 5-10 races, space travel, and a mixture of hand crafted hub worlds and randomly generated planets.
Still got that bowl of salt handy? Well, the user also claims that Starfield will take place in the same universe as Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, as part of an ongoing plan to connect the universes of Bethesda’s games. An example of The Elder Scrolls’ Ninroot being mentioned in Fallout 4 is given to back this up. Fallout is said to be the beginning of the timeline, with The Elder Scrolls at the end, and Starfield sandwiched in the middle.
It’s worth noting that Bethesda’s parent company Zenimax filed a trademark for “Starfield” back in 2013 and renewed in last year.
The post also mentions that Bethesda has a Game of Thrones game in the works, has started pre-production on The Elder Scrolls VI, and is working on very early concepts for The Elder Scrolls VII.
Currently, no one has been able to verify the leak, but we’ll find out how much truth there is to it on Sunday when Bethesda takes to the stage for its E3 press conference.
