A Reddit user purporting to have insider info claims that Destiny 2 has both a solid launch window as well as an official title.
The completely unverifiable posting claims that Destiny 2: Shattered Suns, as it’s called, will be the standalone continuation of Activision and Bungie’s franchise, scheduled to be released in September of 2016.
Allegedly, this game will utilize Hollywood scriptwriters to give it a solid narrative focus, a frequent point of critique of the first game. It’s also claimed that Destiny 2 will not continue with the same DLC-driven business model that has been incorporated by the franchise so far. Instead of paid expansion packs after buying the initial game, the source claims Bungie will instead focus on full-disc based releases and bridge the gap between with free content updates that will include raids and entire planets.
Elsewhere in the mystery source’s statement, they discuss new details on content that will be coming to the first Destiny with The Taken King and beyond. If you don’t mind being spoiled on some of the expansion’s surprises, you can check out the full list of alleged leaks here.
Of course, given that the leaker provides no solid evidence of his sources, you’d do best to take everything mentioned with a grain of salt. Still, we might get an early sign of whether the claims made are true when The Taken King finally launches on September 15.
