Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes clocks in just shy of two hours, according to a write-up in Game Informer’s March 2014 issue (as reported by Kotaku).
“Judged just by the core story mission, Ground Zeroes is short,” reads the article. “We completed it in just less than two hours.”
Game Informer’s account, of course, does not include time spent on side-quests and console-exclusive missions. But it still raises the question of whether the MGSV prologue to The Phantom Pain warrants a $39.99 price tag. That’s not to say that a game’s value, in any sense, is derived from its length, but it certainly plays a factor in buying decisions, and consumers should be aware of what they’re potentially getting for their money.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes launches on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, and PS3 March 18 in North America, March 20 in Europe.
