Report: Nordic Games has acquired the THQ trademark, will publish under that name

Posted on June 13, 2014 AT 10:45am

Nordic Games has acquired the THQ trademark and will be publishing games under that banner, according to a report from Polygon.

“It was kind of a surprise to some industry veterans and players that we were the were the winner of the auction of the THQ titles,” general manager Klemens Kruezer told Polygon. “The challenging fact is nobody has ever heard about Nordic Games before [the THQ auction]. There were so many articles with the headlines ‘Who the fuck is Nordic Games?’ We said, okay they were right.

“We have seen an uplift in the name of Nordic Games, and what we also have done is we have made a second deal with THQ where we bought the THQ trademark.”

Nordic acquired a large portion of THQ’s properties during the latter’s bankruptcy sale early last year. Said properties include the Darksiders series, the Red Faction series, and the MX series. Nordic’s first former-THQ project will be MX vs. ATV, expected this sometime this year. The publisher has also made clear their plans to continue the Darksiders franchise.
