Nintendo Switch

A new mainline Pokémon game, codenamed Pokémon Stars, is in development for Nintendo Switch, according to Eurogamer.

Multiple sources have informed the site that a third entry in the Pokémon Sun and Moon series is “well into development” at Game Freak.

Previous generations have featured a third game, such as Pokémon Yellow and Platinum, but X and Y did not get a Z game. Usually, the third game expands on the original two with new features.

According to Eurogamer, the Switch version will feature the same map and art style, but with higher resolution assets. There’s also talk of it containing new Pokémon, but sources could not confirm or deny this.

Pokémon Sun and Moon launch today for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS.
