Report: Sony in talks with a director for Metal Gear Solid movie

Posted on June 4, 2014 AT 04:53am

Sony is moving forward with its plans to release a film based on the Metal Gear Solid franchise, according to a new report.

Deadline reports that Sony is currently in talks with Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) to direct the film. It will be overseen by Konami and Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima, but how much influence they will have is unknown. The project is reportedly being produced by Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-ManX-Men Origins: Wolverine).

According to Deadline, the reason the project has taken so long to get off the ground is because ”it just took so long for the game creators and the studio to find themselves on the same page in how to tell the story of protagonist Solid Snake.”

Konami recently released Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and the latest entry in the franchise Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is currently in development at Kojima Productions.
