Microsoft’s next console after the Xbox One X is already being designed and has a codename, according to Windows Central editor Jez Corden.

In a recent tweet, Corden said that the next Xbox console is “already being designed.” When asked if he meant that it’s just being thought about, he added that it also has a codename.

While this won’t come as a surprise to many of you, it’s good to see that Microsoft appears to be committed to the console market for the foreseeable future.

Corden went on to say that he doesn’t expect to see this new console until after 2019 and that it may be a refresh of the Xbox One X, instead of a brand new generation.

The Xbox One X is scheduled to arrive November 7th for $499. Similar to Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro, the Xbox One X is a mid-generation upgrade console that comes equipped with a more powerful graphics card and processor, and the ability to run games at 4K resolution.

Speaking of Sony, analyst Michael Pachter predicted earlier this week that the PlayStation 5 will arrive in 2019 and support backward compatibility from day one.
