Last year, just under the wire, the République Kickstarter campaign—created by Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriots associate producer Ryan Payton at his new indie company, Camouflaj—hit its $500,000 funding goal. While the game didn’t make its listed June 2013 release date, Payton announced today on Twitter that it will release in 2013 on iOS platforms—three days from now on Dec. 19, in fact. The PC release, a key to the game’s successful funding on Kickstarter, will come at an unspecific date next year.

According to Payton, République fuses survival-horror and stealth elements in a dystopian backdrop inspired by 1984, and for you Metal Gear fans gutted at the lack of David Hayter in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V, you’ll be pleased to know that he (along with Jennifer Hale and few other well-known voice actors) will play a major character in the game, as you can hear in the trailer, courtesy of IGN.
