Capcom has unveiled perhaps the best Halloween surprise Resident Evil 2 fans could’ve wanted. Two free alternate costumes will be available in the upcoming remake that will make players feel like they have stepped back into 1998.
As revealed on the official Resident Evil Twitter account, Resident Evil 2 will include the iconic outfits that Leon and Claire wore in the 1998 original. Check out the tweet below to see the remake’s take on the throwback looks, which Capcom has dubbed “Classic Police Costume” and “Classic Jacket Costume.”

While both costumes initially look to be exact copies of the originals, Claire’s has been slightly tweaked. Instead of black sleeves and a turtleneck-style top, she just has her recognizable biker vest. Even though it’s a little different, it seems to fit this version of Claire well and has enough of the old design to please fans.
As previously mentioned, both outfits will be available for free. However, it’s unclear if or how players will have to unlock them. Alongside the freebies will be a closet full of other looks for both heroes, too. For those that purchase the Deluxe or Collector’s Edition of the survival horror title, there will be five new costumes available. Capcom has been showing off a few in recent trailers, such as Claire’s Elza Walker outfit, which is a nod to the character that was initially planned to lead Resident Evil 2.
Resident Evil 2 will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 25th, 2019.
