Residents of Poznan, Poland were lucky enough to see early retail copies of Resident Evil 6 on store shelves for PlayStation 3, and one gaming publication even picked up a copy. Talk about a game-breaker.
Polish website NeoGo snagged a German copy just a day ago, and they were fortunate to do so—Capcom’s international office quickly put the freeze on the loose copies, pulling them all from shelves in the area.
In a talk with Joystiq, NeoGo staffer Rafał Baranowski said that they wouldn’t post a lot of content from the game, well-aware that Capcom “would kill them” if they did:
“I was shocked when I heard the store offers it and rushed to check it out… I have no knowledge of manufacturing plant near Poznan. It looks like it has been pulled from Germany, really.”
NeoGo has a clip posted of the initial first “bits” of RE6 gameplay, so watch it at your own risk. There’s a ton of spoilers abound for people wanting to start fresh, though the video quality isn’t terrific by any means.
However, there is a huge risk in the works here. If a normal person picked up a copy of the game, there’s nothing stopping them from leaking all the content online via YouTube or online torrent sites.
